Our Story of Care
Hudson’s Helping Hands was born from a journey marked by loss, faith, and a calling to serve.

For many years, our founder, Tara Castro, built a successful career in banking and served as a bank manager, expecting to retire in that field. But her life changed forever with the tragic loss of her son. That tragedy reshaped her entire purpose, and in the midst of grief, she began a deep spiritual journey of forgiveness and healing — a journey that opened doors she never expected.

A close friend connected Tara with the Executive Director of a chaplain residency program, and she was accepted. During the residency, she walked with families through some of the hardest moments of their lives — sitting with people as they took their last breath, supporting grieving families, officiating funerals, and witnessing how deeply people needed compassion, dignity, and presence — and how often they weren’t treated with the care they deserved.

After graduating, Tara worked as an administrator for a home care agency. That experience revealed gaps in the industry and the ways clients and caregivers were often overlooked. Her heart ached for something better.
That’s when Hudson’s Helping Hands was created — a place where care is personal, where dignity is non‑negotiable, and where every client and caregiver is treated like family.

The company was named after her grandson, Hudson, making it a symbol of both loss and love; a beautiful reminder that from life’s hardest moments, compassion, care, and family can grow.
